For years, people have been inquiring about the cinematic color grading of Lens Distortions videos. While good coloring may seem like rocket science on a technical level, we believe it’s more about the power of unifying aesthetics across an entire project rather than just the impact of individual shots.
With this belief in mind, we are excited to introduce Finishing LUTs™. This series consists of carefully selected color configurations that help you develop cohesive tones. Whether you use them as a starting point or combine them with other LUTs you already have, or even as the final step in your workflow, Finishing LUTs can enhance your color grading process.
What are FINISHING LUTs?
The purpose of a Finishing LUT is to connect your entire sequence of shots together. They don’t inject new colors into your project but rather tighten all shots around a disciplined color palette.
The focus for each Finishing LUT is on maintaining consistency and integrity in terms of colors across all footage while also providing a stylized look – in that order.
Note: A finishing lut is not a conversion lut. If you shoot in LOG format or any other color space, standardize your footage to Rec.709 before applying the finishing lut.
